I have a personal penchant for this statue too ;) ... Thank you ever so much for the lovely compliment on the photo. I appreciate that more than you know.

And, of course, you may use the photograph as a wall paper. You may take this one, or you can shoot me your e-mail address, and I'll make a nice wall paper for you, the size you want.

Gardian angel is one of the lovlyes thing.. I like to think that a child got a gardian angel .. it not the first time or the last time I did think that the kids did have a gardian angel. Not to long ago, I just got a hint that I would do a break from the werry intresting movie, just to look at them .. what did i find.. A lamp above the head was just in sec to get on fire...

This is a great picture, perfect angle and all but... Isn't this someone else's artwork?

Where's the original statue? Are there others like it? Why did those gardeners allow a tree to grow so near it, obscuring part of the view?! :o

My god this is beautiful! :o You're so talented! This was captured so well... if or when we get a favorate artwork addition to our gallery, I'm going to add this first and foremost. I honestly can't stop looking at it... +9

Bikerprinse: En Dansker! Hvor hyggeligt ;) ... Billedet er taget på Gentofte Kirkegård. Den står rimelig godt gemt, men den er dog til at finde.

Sourpuss: This IS the original statue. I don't believe there are other's like it, but I cannot be sure, of course. I am afraid I cannot speak intelligently on the behalf of the gardeners as to why they let a big tree so near, but this is an older grave, and I assume the trees were planted a long time ago. I don't think it's obscuring the view, in fact, I think the trees and greenery naturally frame the figure.

This is, indeed, a beautiful photograph. The statue itself is just amazing. A work of stunning art - both statue and photograph. Thanks for sharing this. :)

I think JaguarX referred to the whole statue photographing thing that the photography scene has some rules for. (i.e. the statue is made by someone else and you simply capure it)

That casted aside I think it is a very nice photograph. The 1/3 rule is a nice one to keep in mind when photographing. Put you subject 1/3 from the left or the right, a golden rule ('gulden snede' in Dutch). Even though the angel is centered, the background shifts it a little out of center. Even if not done on purpose, the effect pays off.

You sure know how to handle a camera =)
Very nice natural framing, you have an eye for bringing life into pictures, I just love the ligtht falling on the face.

I would love to see more of your photos.

Anyhow I'm amazed by JaguarX's comment, this is from my point of view one of the most stupid remarks I have read!

I have some comments on this remark:
How is the artist?
- The photografer
- The Sculptor
- God

From my point of view No question, it's the photografer. Taking pictures is about bringing an object into life. This picture is a nice example of this.
The statue is also a great artwork. But it's not the sculptor how has composed this picture, bringing the statue to life.

Keep up this great work, you have my vote

Hmm, I understood JaguarX’s comment (whether or not it was valid)…interesting that you took it that way though. Lot of angst here…It would be cool if we could get some mature comments sometime soon. It is a nice photo, and nicely framed. It would have been nice to see the bottom of the statue though. I love black and white. It’s nice to see something a little different from you!

You've captured the statue at exactly the right time of day, the light and shadow gives it the same looks as your illustrations.

Beautiful vision, Belletrist. It reminds me of a shot in the movie "Beyond enemy lines" that came out last year. The movie was just ok, but there was this vison of a giant broken statue of an angel that came back several times in the movie, in a very symbolic way. I love that.
Almost like a silent spiritual testimony through ages.
And you are right, the trees are not a problem, they are complementing the image, in terms of composition, light and texture.
Wonderful. +10, my dear.

What makes this your art: seeing time at work on the actual statue in the black and white. Colour wouldn't have done this picture justice. That's why black and white chosen for it is perfect. I commend you on your choice of black and white with the hue changes.

Did you also work in the highlights? You can really see the erosion in the knee area of the gown. Also how the water has stained the face and neck gives the impression of a crying angel.

The debth left impressed down at the bottom of the gown also bleeds to the black boarder matting.

A small constructive cristizem: At the bottom of the photograph where the gown bleeds to the back could be eather cropped or extended. What was the statue standing on? a platform? or the ground? If some how you could "end" the photo a little better.

Yngdragn: The statue stands on a pedistal. I didn't like the pedital ... so I cropped it off ;) ... I thought it looked more "balanced" without it. Thanks for the nice comment and the critique.
